About

ABC Kids Climbing offers climbing, bouldering, top-roping, and access to a training area, along with summer camps, afterschool classes, team camps, overnight trips, and birthday parties. The program also includes a zip line, slide, games, activities, and options for private and semi-private lessons.

• Ages: 2–18 years old
• Schedule: Birthday parties are held on Saturdays and Sundays, with start times at 12:30pm and 3pm, and include an hour and a half of climbing, games, and activities followed by half an hour in the Party Room.

ABC Kids Climbing operates with a mission of empowering kids through the sport of climbing. The program describes its role in building youth up through movement and climbing, sparking creativity to solve challenging problems through coach, peer, and community support, and cultivating commitment and a sense of adventure. Robyn Erbesfield and Didier Raboutou run ABC Kids Climbing and the elite Team ABC Boulder team. ABC Kids Climbing is described as the world’s first climbing gym designed specifically for youth athletes and as the only climbing gym in the world with over 7,200 square feet built specially to foster growth, development, and climbing and athletic skills in kids. It is identified as the home and training grounds of an elite team that includes international champions and Olympic climbers, and Team ABC’s listed accomplishments include multiple regional, divisional, and national team championships from 2021 through 2024, as well as Olympian alumni such as Brooke Raboutou, Colin Duffy, and Natalia Grossman. For birthday parties, the program notes a low student to instructor ratio, a maximum of 12 or 18 climbing guests depending on package, and that parties are appropriate for kids ages 5 and up. It also states that anyone over age 14 who wants to belay must pass a Belay Test and, once certified as a Junior Certified Belayer, must still have active adult supervision, that children under 14 are not allowed to operate the auto belays and must have an adult clip them in and out, and that anyone climbing must be able to properly demonstrate and use a controlled fall.
