Tinker Art Studio was founded in 2012. Its mission is to cultivate connection, community, and creativity through hands-on art experiences for all ages. The studio describes itself as an inclusive community art studio and a cornerstone of Boulder’s creative community, with programs for children, teens, and adults, including weekday art classes and workshops with morning, afternoon, and evening sessions.

Tinker’s team is made up of teachers experienced in art and education, including founder Christie Hubley, who holds a Master’s in Education with a focus on Integrated Teaching through the Arts and a BA in English Literature and Elementary Education from CU Boulder. Other team members include General Manager Anika Feldmann, who has degrees in Art and English Literature from CU Boulder; Clay Hub Manager Julia Zuniga, who has a BFA in Ceramics and a degree in Education from FAU and previously taught IB Visual Arts for five years; Executive Assistant Alexis Bambach, who holds a degree in Mass Communications with a focus on Community Service; Lead Children’s Teacher Kathy Martin, who has a BA in Dance and an MA in Curriculum & Instruction and Educational Leadership; and Adult 2D Lead Teacher Lindsay Jane Ternes, who double majored in Studio Art (BA) and Marketing (BSBA) at the University of Denver and is described as an award-winning plein air landscape painter. Additional leadership and teaching staff include Lead Children’s Teacher Mariah Stotsky, Lead Children’s Teacher Kaitlyn Shirley, Front Desk Team and Lead Digital Art Teacher Allie Bundy, and Lead Adult Teacher Erica Podwoiski.

The program is involved in the local ceramics community through the Boulder Potters Guild and EBCA via staff member Julia Zuniga. At Clay Hub, students learn wheel throwing in a well-equipped studio, and the program offers pottery parties and events there. Parents and adult students describe the studio as welcoming, calm, and creative, and note that their children have enjoyed camps, classes, and birthday parties and have worked with a variety of materials.
