Swim instruction in Camps + Certifications is taught by seasoned swim professionals Jaecie and Connie, who have a combination of over 50 years’ experience. Campers are grouped by skill level and age, and 14–15 year olds are eligible to volunteer during all swim camps, while individuals 16 and older are eligible for employment at Pikes Peak Athletics. All swimmers registered two weeks prior to FUNdamentals Camp and Competitive Camp receive a t-shirt and water bottle, and snacks are provided at these camps while swimmers bring their own lunch. Completion of the swim instructor training course guarantees an interview with the Lesson Program Management Team and fulfills all instructor training requirements.

The Certified Pool & Spa Operator (CPO) certification program is described as the world’s leading education and certification program for keeping pools safer and keeping them open, and certification is required in Colorado and 24 other states for professional pool operators. CPO certification provides individuals with the knowledge, techniques, and skills required for proper pool operations, and is also a way for recreational pool owners to expand their knowledge. As a Certified CPO, participants receive a 5-year CPO Certification, an electronic CPO certificate and wallet card, plus a hard copy. Over 650,000 students have been trained in the CPO certification program since 1973.

The Lifeguard/First Aid/AED/CPR certification is an American Red Cross blended learning and in-person class, and the American Red Cross requires participants to successfully complete prerequisites to receive a lifeguard certification. For the lifeguard certification, students must be able to complete prerequisites including swimming specified distances, treading water using only the legs, retrieving a 10-pound object from a depth of 7–10 feet, and exiting without steps or a ladder. Students who are unable to meet the prerequisite requirements may still be eligible to obtain CPR certification if they complete all requirements and pass the final CPR exam.
