About

USA Archery Youth Archery Programs include traditional bow divisions that use equipment based on what was used in NAA target shooting during the late 19th and early 20th centuries, before modern Olympic recurves and compound bows. The program includes divisions such as the Euro/Asiatic bow division and the Asiatic bow division, which were added to allow Asiatic style bows to participate in target archery. The outdoor US National Traditional Target Archery Championships connected with these divisions is a stand-alone summer event that is a 2-day shoot consisting of the York Round for men, the Hereford Round for women or the optional Michigan Round for men and women, the American Round, and Clout.

• Schedule: The outdoor US National Traditional Target Archery Championships is held in the summer as a rigorous 2-day shoot.

The traditional bow divisions in USA Archery are guided by a Traditional Committee that was formed in the mid 1990s to act as stewards of this style of target shooting and to honor the equipment and tournament conditions of earlier eras. The Traditional Division rules were established in 1997 and are based on British Longbow Society rules, and specific equipment rules for the Traditional division at USA Archery events are listed in the World Archery rulebook, book 4 item 19.4. The Euro/Asiatic bow division and the Asiatic bow division were both added in 2016. The indoor Traditional Championship was later added as part of the USA Archery Indoor Nationals and was shot at regional venues around the country, and effective 2023, the indoor Traditional Championship aspect of the tournament has been discontinued. The program’s website was designed and developed by 93ft in partnership with Sport:80.
