The USA Basketball Foundation is a nonprofit organization that harnesses the power, influence and global reach of USA Basketball to grow the game beyond the court and expand access to USA Basketball programs so leaders can be mentored in every community. Basic skill development drills and open court sessions are led or supervised by USA Basketball-licensed coaches. USABF works with local community leaders through basketball camps, clinics, community takeovers, and youth development clinics, and partners with communities to refurbish basketball courts, including work with Project Backboard and JDS Sports and a refurbished court used for a Community Day in partnership with Hillside Connection. USA Basketball Gold Camps focus on both skill development and character and leadership development, and the U.S. Open Basketball Championships is an open-registration national youth competition that includes team gear packages, four guaranteed tournament games, skill challenges, and access to a tournament cookout social. The USA Basketball Foundation offers scholarships and registration grants to USA Basketball’s Women in the Game conference and runs The Torch Leadership in Sport Mentoring Program, which connects top students at minority-serving institutions with USA Basketball leadership and staff for a full academic year of professional mentoring. Testimonials from coaches, school leaders, and participants describe experiences at youth clinics, community takeover events, Women in the Game, Torch mentoring, and the refurbished court at Hillside Community Center.
