About

Altitude Youth Ultimate offers Ultimate Frisbee programs that include skills, drills, and mini games. The program also organizes Ultimate Frisbee teams, leagues, tournaments, camps, and clinics for participants interested in the sport. For most camps, participants only need running shoes or soccer-style cleats.

Altitude Youth Ultimate is part of Altitude Ultimate, a 501c3 non-profit organization run by a volunteer board made up of experienced Ultimate Frisbee players and coaches. The organization was founded in 2014 and is dedicated to developing athletes and promoting youth participation in Ultimate Frisbee teams, leagues, tournaments, camps, and clinics across the Front Range, Colorado, and the Rocky Mountain West. Its mission includes a focus on equitable access and spirited play, fostering opportunities to participate in all levels of competition, providing a clearinghouse of resources for coaches, players, parents, and fans, and serving as a stable, sustainable organization that grows and strengthens the ultimate community in the region. The leadership team includes Senior Operations Manager Mike Richard, Outreach Director Libby Cravens, and 2026 officers President Joe Durst, Vice President Libby Cravens, Secretary Zach Hochstadt, and Treasurer Chris Ward. Mike Richard is responsible for day-to-day operations such as planning, managing, and executing program logistics for summer camps, leagues, clinics, tournaments, and other youth and adult programs, as well as web management, accounting, developing resources and new programs, and expanding effectiveness in serving the Colorado ultimate community; he played four years at the collegiate level with the University of Wyoming, worked in education as a teacher and support staff for 10 years, and coached abroad in Israel in the summer of 2015 with an organization called Ultimate Peace. Most camps are co-ed and are open to both new and experienced players, and for most camps only running shoes or soccer-style cleats are needed. Altitude Youth Ultimate follows USA Ultimate’s Gender Inclusion Policy for all programs, and players are invited to play in the gender division that most closely aligns with their identity, and teams in leagues, tournaments, and other events agree to respect and uphold this policy, including all coaches, players, parents, fans, and others associated with the team. The organization states that it seeks to create a welcoming environment where participants of all backgrounds and identities feel comfortable bringing their full selves to events, recognizes the importance of having its Ultimate community reflect all members of the Colorado community and prioritizing breaking down barriers for marginalized groups, aims to provide more access to the sport within racially and ethnically diverse communities and to raise awareness of DEI issues among members of its existing community, and plans to develop and foster partnerships within traditionally underrepresented communities so those communities can inform its practices and to build community partnerships as part of its transparency and accountability efforts.
