The Urban Farm Youth Programs and Camps offer hands-on experiences in animal husbandry, organic gardening, environmental education, land conservation, and food security. The program takes place at The Urban Farm (TUF), a community farm and educational center described as “your farm in the city.”
• Schedule: Winter hours (Nov–Feb) are Saturday, 9:00 AM–1:00 PM only
• Price: $5 per person, with ages 2 and under free
The Urban Farm (TUF) states that it strives to provide the opportunity for urban youth to engage and participate in local food and agricultural systems by removing barriers such as land access, time, location, and finances. As a community farm and educational center, TUF describes its programs as a way for urban youth to learn hands-on about agriculture without leaving the city. TUF states that it believes access and education are essential to promoting future generations of farmers, healthy eaters, and sustainably minded consumers, and that it strives to inspire excitement for learning through practical work experience in a farm setting while fostering respect, responsibility, curiosity, caring, and grit.
The program includes experiential activities in animal husbandry, organic gardening, environmental education, land conservation, and food security. TUF notes member benefits such as free general admission, priority registration on camps and classes, and early notice about happenings at the farm.
