HERO Kids Sports offers an 11-sport curriculum that includes baseball, basketball, football, floor hockey, gymnastics, kickball, lacrosse, soccer, track and field, and volleyball, along with Mindfulness Yoga. The program also includes gym games, obstacle courses, arts and crafts, water play, free play, brain games, and playground time as part of its activities. Programs are curated for all skill and play levels and operate year-round.

HERO Kids Sports describes itself as an innovative, non-competitive sports enrichment program that teaches the fundamentals of sports and the values of teamwork in a fun and encouraging environment. Its mission is to introduce sports to children at a young age within an encouraging, inspiring, and fun educational atmosphere, with a goal of “Inspiring the HERO Inside” each participant and nurturing confidence, motivation, and a sense of belonging. The program focuses on promoting Fitness, Nutrition, Friends, and Fun, and emphasizes positive leadership, responsibility, and respect.

The program states a focus on the neurocognitive benefits of an active lifestyle in childhood and on how learning sports at a young age affects development of gross motor skills such as balancing, running, jumping, throwing, catching, and kicking. It prioritizes a culturally respectful and inclusive teaching and coaching environment and a culturally inclusive, socially and emotionally rich environment (SEL/SEAL) for all youth, with emphasis on cognitive regulation, emotional competencies, and social and interpersonal skills, using evidence-based practices with a focus on sports and wellness. HERO Kids Sports also states a program promise to foster a sense of community and belonging among participants and offers customizable programs that can be created to fit specific needs.

The staff includes a Registered Nurse Team, and coaches are described as having high energy and a demonstrated ability to motivate children while creating a fun learning environment. Coaches are also described as FUN, inviting, comedian-like, theatrical, and humorous, with a child-focused introduction to learning sports. The leadership team includes Mike Simpson (Founder/CEO, Coach Mike), Adriana Simpson (Director of Administrative Services, Coach Adriana), Paige Ruiz (Senior Head Coach, Coach Paige), Maura Bird (Vice President of Operations, Coach Mo), Dominique Hernandez (Assistant Manager, Coach Dom), Mckinzie Ellis (Managing Director, Coach Mckinzie), and TEAM HERO! for program management.

HERO Kids Sports partners with preschools and elementary schools, noted as preschool and elementary partnerships and a section called “Our Partners.” The program is offered through park classes, indoor sessions, preschool and elementary partnerships, park programs, indoor gym sports programs, and private programs and camps.
