About

YMCA of Metro Denver Summer Camp includes weekly field trips, time playing outside, and learning new skills in arts and crafts. Campers can take part in activities such as white water rafting, high ropes courses, mountain biking, basketball, art, and games. The program also offers nutrition knowledge, kitchen skills, and chances to try out tasty cuisine led by YMCA nutrition and cooking specialists.

• Ages: 4–14 years old

The program includes several options such as Day Camp for ages 5–12, Adventure Camp for ages 10–14, Basketball Camp for ages 10–14, Culinary Camp for ages 10–14, and Kinder Camp for ages 4–5. Before Camp Care offers pre-camp activities such as art and games, and YMCA counselors check campers into their respective camps each morning. After Camp Care offers art and games at the end of the camp day, and YMCA counselors check campers into after care from their respective camps each afternoon. Overnight camp is offered by partner YMCAs in Colorado, and financial assistance is available through Summer Camp scholarships. Summer Camp Welcome Days are part of the program.

YMCA nutrition and cooking specialists lead the culinary-focused parts of the camp. The YMCA of Metro Denver describes itself as a place of belonging for all, providing community connection, family support, healthful movement, personal growth and life-long learning for all. The YMCA states that it is a nonprofit organization whose mission is to put Christian principles into practice through programs that build healthy spirit, mind and body for all. The organization highlights “150 Years of You” as part of its history.
