Sanborn Western Camps offers camping, riding, canoeing, fishing, swimming, mountain climbing, and backpacking experiences, including 14,000 ft. mountain climbs and backpacking in the Rockies. Campers also take part in horseback riding and other mountain climbing and backpacking trips as part of the program.

Established in 1948, Sanborn Western Camps is part of the Colorado Outdoor Education Center, a 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organization. The mission of Sanborn Western Camps is “To live together in the outdoors, building a sense of self, a sense of community, a sense of the earth and a sense of wonder through fun and adventure.” The program includes a Colorado summer camp for boys ages 9–16, a Colorado summer camp for girls ages 9–16, and a Colorado summer camp for children in the 2nd–4th grades (ages 8–10), all in a tech-free community with residential, single-gender boys’ and girls’ camps. Each year the camp community includes campers and staff members from over 40 states and 10 countries. The year-round leadership team is described as one of the most experienced, professional, and personable teams in the camping industry, with a permanent staff of 30 educators and support personnel working throughout the year on programming and facilities.
The leadership team includes Ariella Rogge, Director of Sanborn Western Camps; Will Coleman, Director of Big Spring Ranch; Krista White, Director of High Trails Ranch; and Tully Sandbom, Director of Sanborn Junior. High Trails Outdoor Education Center, a residential outdoor experiential education program, and The Nature Place, an adult conference and retreat center, are other programs of the Colorado Outdoor Education Center. Colorado Outdoor Education Center/Sanborn Western Camps is a 501(c)(3) non-profit, and SANBORN WESTERN CAMPS and COLORADO OUTDOOR EDUCATION CENTER state that they do not discriminate in employment or admissions policies on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, national origin, age, or disability.
