About
Collindale Golf Academy Junior Programs include PGA Junior League weekly practices and competitions, Camp Collindale, Collindale Kiddos, Sport Level “Beginner,” and Player Level “Intermediate” classes. Participants work on putting, chipping, full swing, golf swing fundamentals, and short game, and they spend time on the golf course. Activities also include exploring posture, balance, speed, coordination, and setup.
• Ages: 5–17 years old
• Schedule: PGA Junior League practices are Wednesdays from 5:30–7:00pm with games on Saturdays starting at 3:40pm; Camp Collindale is a 5 day, 20 hour junior camp; Collindale Kiddos, Sport Level “Beginner,” and Player Level “Intermediate” sessions have first classes starting in May and June on specific dates.
Camp Collindale is a 5 day, 20 hour junior camp that covers every aspect of the game and includes lunch each day. Collindale Kiddos provides a first experience with golf for ages 5–6, and golf clubs are provided if needed for Collindale Kiddos and Sport Level “Beginner.” Sport Level “Beginner” introduces fundamentals and includes a day on the course, while Player Level “Intermediate” offers a more advanced understanding of fundamentals as a next step after the Sport Level clinic. An Academy logoed golf hat is included for Collindale Kiddos, Sport Level “Beginner,” and Player Level “Intermediate” classes. The PGA Junior League includes weekly practices and competitions geared to developing players, and coaches lead an experience that includes skill building, problem solving, accountability, and fun.
The leadership team includes Earl Gerlach, PGA Director of Instruction; Vince Buelk, PGA Director of Golf; Gerry Benton, Club Fitter; and Courtney Houska, Director of Operations. Earl Gerlach earned his Class A PGA Certification. Vince Buelk has been recognized as #1 Men’s Instructor and #3 Juniors Instructor for the state of Colorado and previously served as an Academy Teacher and as Director of Golf at Brooksville Country Club near Tampa, Florida. Gerry Benton has been teaching the sport of golf for over 25 years and has been a golf professional and club fitter at multiple golf facilities, including Ptarmigan Country Club in Fort Collins, PGA West in La Quinta, Baylands Golf Links in Palo Alto, SportSense Golf Training Centers in Mountain View, Sharon Heights Golf & Country Club in Menlo Park, and Deep Cliff Golf Course in Cupertino. Collindale received national recognition from the PGA of America as the #1 Public Golf Pro Shop in the country. The stated goal for the Junior Golf Academy is for every golfer to be successful and have fun.
