The program offers no long-term contracts for children’s activity programs and offers a free trial class. The Ninja Zone curriculum combines gymnastics, martial arts, break dancing, and cross-training, and Galaxy Gang is described as an adaptive gymnastics class designed to support children with special needs. Mountain Gymnastics Training Center was founded in 1976 by Ron and Mary Baretta, Mountain Preschool was established in 1986, and the Louisville location opened in 2004. Their daughter Anna Navares is the owner of the Louisville Mountain Kids location, Bree Baretta is the owner of Wonder Gym in Wheatridge, Colorado, and Jeni Baretta has been the Operations and Business Development Director for Mountain Kids in Fort Collins since 2018. Gymnastics instructors have backgrounds in gymnastics, and dance teachers are professional dancers by trade and are formally trained. Teachers are described as lifelong learners who better their skills through certification programs, teacher-training schools, and conferences. Ron was a collegiate gymnast, WAC all-around champion, and a 2002 Colorado State University Sports Hall of Fame inductee, and Mary received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Dance.
Mountain Kids has consistently fielded many state champions and qualified gymnasts to regional and international championships through its competitive gymnastics teams. The organization has been a trusted part of the Northern Colorado community for more than 50 years and participates in community events. The gym includes a viewing area open to parents at all times, a clothing shop for workout gear and uniforms, and a café that serves hot and cold beverages and snacks, including a little coffee shop called Warmups coffee.
Parent testimonials describe birthday parties with gym activities for groups of children, preschool experiences that include gymnastics as part of the curriculum, and children who continue practicing gymnastics skills at home. Other testimonials mention enjoying summer swim classes such as the Wave-riders 1 & 2 program, and parents note that they purchase coffee and other drinks at Warmups coffee during visits.
