About

Youth Sport Camps offers summer day-camp sessions that include baseball, dance, and multi-sport experiences. The program runs 16 summer-long, active lifestyle camps that are health and fitness-oriented and focus on obesity prevention, lifelong fitness, and skill development.

• Ages: 5–13 years old

The camps originally started in 1970. The program’s mission states that, through innovative programming and active learning practices focusing on obesity prevention, lifelong fitness, and skill development, Youth Sport Camps support the educational and public service mission of the Department of Health and Exercise Science and Colorado State University. The program is led by Brian, who can be contacted at [email protected].

Youth Sport Camps offers a scholarship program that provides scholarships to underserved children, and 100% of each gift is dedicated to scholarships. Youth Sport Camps is one of Colorado State University’s Commitment to Campus programs, and CSU faculty and staff receive a 10% discount on registration. Sponsorship from donors including Krazy Karl’s Pizza and Gene and Carol Vaughan supports affordability for kids throughout the community. The program has a pilot partnership that pairs campers who need special or one-on-one attention with students interested in Occupational Therapy. Youth Sport Camps also provides hands-on experience and research opportunities for CSU students and staff and plans to collect data from volunteer campers about their physical activity levels and nutritional habits.
