The Carbon Valley Parks and Recreation District was established in 1983 and is a governmental entity known as a special district in the State of Colorado. Its mission is to increase and enhance recreational opportunities by providing a variety of quality programs and activities for the residents of Frederick, Firestone, Dacono, and surrounding communities. The district serves the communities of Dacono, Firestone, and Frederick and surrounding rural areas, and it collaborates with local businesses and organizations that share its commitment to the community.

The leadership team for the Carbon Valley Parks and Recreation District includes an executive director, deputy director, and supervisors and managers for areas such as recreation, aquatics, youth programs, gymnastics, fitness, sports, active adults, guest services, finance, brand, and maintenance. Space for Carbon Valley Camp is limited, and families are advised in the program information to sign up early.
