Avid4 Adventure’s instructors are all 18 and older, have safety and skills training, and are described as the number one point of positive feedback from parents of campers. Expert staff transport children to their day of adventure and handle logistics including setting up camp, cooking, and cleaning, and Avid4 Adventure cooks filling, nutritious meals. The program states that it believes in the transformative power of the outdoors and that kids at Avid4 Adventure build confidence, make new friends, and master skills in activities such as paddling, biking, rock climbing, and hiking. Programs at Avid4 Adventure evolve as campers grow, from age 3 through their first summer job.
The leadership team is headed by David Secunda, former president of the Outdoor Industry Association and a 25-year veteran of the outdoor education industry. Avid4 Adventure is a Certified B Corp, is accredited by the American Camp Association, and has been named among Colorado Parent’s Top 5 Sports Camps. Avid4 Adventure operates under a Special Use authorization from the National Forest Service and is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
The Avid4 Adventure Guarantee states that the organization promises an authentic outdoor adventure, well-trained and professional staff, and increased confidence for children, and if these promises are not met, the next camp is free. One parent, Emily Medress, shared in September 2023 that her daughter called it her favorite camp and learned to ride a bike without training wheels, and that stand-up paddleboarding, kayaking, and biking became her favorite activities. Another parent, Molly Marienthal, said in September 2023 that her child wanted her to join to see everything she had learned and described the staff as mature, responsible, and excited to share their passion with kids. A third parent, Suzanne Dayton, said in September 2023 that her kids had “the best time” at camp, were active every day, and were learning how to enjoy what Colorado has to offer.
