About
CMC Youth Programs Summer Camps & Courses offers day camp adventures and overnight wilderness experiences that include activities such as indoor and outdoor rock-climbing, hiking, wilderness survival, fossils, and paddle boarding. Campers take part in specific sessions like Jr. Mountain Explorers and Mountain Explorers, which feature activities such as the 10 Essentials, Leave No Trace Principles, shelter building, fire building, mountaineering basecamp days, teambuilding, slacklining, rock climbing skills, Colorado ecology days, fossil activities, geology, back country cooking, maps and compass, alpine exploration, snow travel, snow safety education and games, and challenge courses.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
• Schedule: Jr. Mountain Explorers and Mountain Explorers sessions run in June, July, and August 2026, generally from 9AM–4PM, with most sessions totaling 35 hours over 5 days and one Mountain Explorers session totaling 28 hours over 4 days.

Established in 1999, the Colorado Mountain Club’s Youth Program ignites a connection to the outdoors for Colorado youth, by providing opportunities for active learning through experiential and adventure education. Its mission is to inspire the next generation of leaders, recreationalists, and environmental stewards by fostering enthusiastic, self-aware learners who engage in their community and strive toward both collaborative and independent goals. CMC Youth Programs offers camps and courses for every age, skill level, and outdoor passion, including Jr. Mountain Explorers for 1st–3rd graders, Mountain Explorers for 3rd–5th graders, Mountain Leaders Multisport day camp for grades 6–8, rock climbing day camps for grades 1–5 and 6–12, and several overnight options for grades 3–12. Summer 2026 registration opens January 6, 2026, and participants must have a completed youth form and waiver on their camper profile to register, with optional financial assistance available through a Financial Assistance Application that must be submitted before registering. All youth camp and course registrants are scheduled to receive a pre-camp or trip email at least two weeks before the camp start date that includes a parent portal with camp and course information.
