About
CMC Youth Programs Summer Camps & Courses offers day camp adventures and overnight wilderness experiences that include indoor and outdoor rock-climbing, hiking, wilderness survival, and nature exploration. Campers take part in activities such as the 10 Essentials, Leave No Trace Principles, shelter building, fire building, teambuilding, slacklining, mountaineering basecamp days, and outdoor climbing safety and etiquette. Additional options include Colorado ecology and fossil days with stream ecology, Colorado mammals, flora and fauna, geology, Dinosaur Ridge hiking, fossil activities, multisport day camps, paddle boarding, challenge courses, alpine exploration with snow travel and snow safety education and games, back country cooking, maps and compass, and overnight trips such as the Brainard Lake Hut Trip, Moab Adventure, Fourteeners Hiking & Camping, Fresh Air & Friends, and Backpacking.

• Schedule: Week-long Jr. Mountain Explorers and Mountain Explorers day camps generally run Monday–Friday, 9AM–4PM, with most sessions totaling 35 hours and one Mountain Explorers session totaling 28 hours of camp time
• Price: Jr. Mountain Explorers sessions are $648 for Family Membership and $698 for non-Members per session; Mountain Explorers sessions range from $508–$648 for Family Membership and $558–$698 for non-Members per session
CMC Youth Programs Summer Camps & Courses includes Jr. Mountain Explorers for 1st–3rd graders and Mountain Explorers for 3rd–5th graders. Beginner, Intermediate, and Advance Rock Climbing day camps are offered for grades 1–5 and 6–12, depending on the specific program. Overnight options include Camp Out Kids for grades 3–5, Brainard Lake Hut Trip for grades 6–8, Moab Adventure and Fresh Air & Friends for grades 7–10, Fourteeners Hiking & Camping for grades 8–12, and Backpacking for grades 9–12. Registration for Summer 2026 opens January 6, 2026, and participants must have a completed youth form and waiver on their camper profile to register, with financial assistance available through a Financial Assistance Application that must be completed before registering. All youth camp and course registrants receive a pre-camp or pre-trip email at least two weeks before the scheduled camp time that includes a parent portal with camp and course information.
The Colorado Mountain Club, founded in 1912, runs CMC Youth Programs Summer Camps & Courses as part of its role as the Rocky Mountain community for mountaincraft education, adventure, and conservation.
