Niwot Youth Sports is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization dedicated to providing recreational and competitive sports experiences that promote teamwork, build self-esteem, and increase skill knowledge for kids ages 4 to 18. The organization originally began as sandlot softball in the late 1960s, became Gunbarrel Lefthand Valley Recreation Association, Inc. (GLVRA) in 1978, and has been known as Niwot Youth Sports, Inc. since 1991. It offers kids the opportunity to participate in organized sports activities on a year-round basis and serves over 500 boys and girls in baseball and softball programs, over 250 in basketball programs, and 150 in the flag football program.

The baseball program includes T-Ball/Coach Pitch leagues for players ages 4 to 8 (Bubblegum, Rookie, and AA) and Player Pitch leagues for players ages 9 to 18 (AAA, Majors, Seniors, and High School Rec). The softball program provides an opportunity for girls age 4½ to 18 to play and learn softball in an environment that focuses on building self-esteem, learning teamwork, and stressing good sportsmanship. The basketball program is recreational for players in grades 1 through 6, and in past years Niwot Youth Sports has offered a Competitive Basketball program for more serious players in grades 5 through 8 who are interested in playing in leagues that travel to other gyms in the northern front range.

The NFL Flag Football League is a premier youth flag football league for both boys and girls ages 5 to 12 and is coed, offering non-contact, continuous action while developing skills and teaching lessons in teamwork. Recreational soccer is geared toward children ages 4 to 8 to get them interested in soccer, learn aspects of the game, get acquainted with teamwork, and have fun, with participants grouped with peers of similar age and skill set rather than distributed on uneven teams. Players from the St. Vrain Valley School District are placed on Niwot Youth Sports–based teams that play against other NFL flag football teams in the Boulder County area, and the organization serves most communities in the St. Vrain School District and Boulder County at large.

Niwot Youth Sports has 10 ball fields, including the Biff Warren Complex and Monarch Park Complex, which are described as having some of the finest facilities in the area. The leadership team includes Jon Hangge (President and Director of Soccer), Galen Scheidenhelm (Vice President and Director of Competitive Baseball), Jessica Walker (Executive Director and Director of Basketball), Kelly Strong (Director of Outreach & Sponsorships), Glenn Wager (Treasurer, Director of Softball, and Director of Fields and Facilities for Monarch Park Complex), Amy Batmazian (Secretary), Ben Bernstein (Director of Baseball), Adam Robinson (Director of Flag Football), Murphey McCloy (Commissioner of Majors and Seniors), and Brian Dean (Umpire Coordinator), along with several open director and commissioner positions.
