About

The National Sports Center for the Disabled (NSCD) Programs offers mountain horseback riding, mountain biking, rock climbing, shooting sports, water sports, river rafting, camps and retreats, group adventures, mountain ski school, competition center programs, and fat tire snow biking. The program includes adaptive horseback riding, groundwork, and horsemanship; adaptive and inclusive mountain biking; adaptive indoor and outdoor climbing; adaptive archery or air rifle experiences; adaptive canoeing, kayaking, paddleboarding, sailing, and whitewater rafting; adaptive alpine skiing, snowboarding, ski biking, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing; Paralympic and World Para Alpine Skiing training; and fat tire bikes for snow-covered terrain.

  • Military Programs — Ages 18+ · Adventure-based programs designed for Veterans and active-duty military living with disabilities.
  • Mountain Ski School — Ages 4+ · Experience the thrill of winter through adaptive alpine skiing, snowboarding, ski biking, Nordic skiing, and snowshoeing.
  • Competition Center — Ages 12+ · Train, compete, and grow through Paralympic and World Para Alpine Skiing for adaptive athletes pursuing competition.
  • Fat Tire Snow Biking — Ages 16+ · Experience winter in a whole new way on fat tire bikes designed for snow-covered terrain.

About the provider

NSCD was founded in 1970 and has 55+ years of creating access to the outdoors. Its mission is to advance the power of people with all abilities through adaptive innovation and the joy of recreation and outdoor experiences. It supports youth, teens, and adults with any type of disability, as well as families, caregivers, and support networks; veterans and active-duty military; individuals with physical, cognitive, developmental, or behavioral disabilities; and individuals with mental health diagnoses or neurodiversity. All adaptive equipment, coaching, and support are provided, and some programs require specialized equipment when needed.

Programs are based in Winter Park and Golden, Colorado. Camps & Retreats participant info says ages 4+ with minimum age varying by camp and retreat; all abilities and experience levels are welcome; some camps are tailored for specific disabilities; independent self-care or caregiver support is required. Group adventures are available year-round in both Winter Park and Denver Metro areas of Colorado.
