About
Creative Arts Workshop offers a Creative Arts Workshop program where kids can paint, draw, build, stitch, and sculpt. Participants also explore all kinds of art from around the world as part of the program’s activities. The program runs as weekly, all-day programs.

Creative Arts Workshop is a nonprofit regional center for creativity that has served the Greater New Haven area since 1961. It operates in a three-story building with nine fully equipped studios, including Book Arts, Fiber Arts, Drawing + Painting, Jewelry, Photography, Pottery, Printmaking, Sculpture, and Young People. More than 1,800 adults and young people enroll annually in more than 400 courses, and over 1,000 visitors attend free exhibitions and public programs in its galleries each year. The organization offers 10–12 exhibitions per year, including ThisPlay, an evolving student exhibition featuring work by high school students from the Visual Arts Department at ACES Educational Center for the Arts, and it holds art sales during exhibitions and special sales. Creative Arts Workshop provides financial aid and payment plans to make programs financially accessible, and its classes are open to students of all ages and levels of experience.
Creative Arts Workshop’s teaching staff includes 60 professional artists who serve as instructors. The leadership team includes Anthony Loney (Co-Chair), Andrea Strain (Co-Chair), Mark Odyniec (Secretary), Clarence Ashe (Treasurer), Jennifer Simpson (Executive Director), Astrid Bernard (Deputy Director), Anabel DeMartino (Assistant Registrar), Miles Ashe (Visitor Services & Operations Associate), Dymin Ellis (Visitor Services & Operations Associate), and Azaria Samuels (Visitor Services & Operations Associate), along with Isabelle Meachen. The office is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 5 pm, and the gallery is open Monday through Friday from 9 am to 7 pm, Saturday from 9 am to 4 pm, and Sunday from 12 pm to 4 pm.
According to its mission statement, Creative Arts Workshop is an educational and cultural resource center devoted to fostering creativity through participation in, appreciation of, and leadership in the visual arts, and it affirms a commitment to making programs available to a broad and diverse population. Its core belief is that to create freely is to live fully, and its vision is to establish Creative Arts Workshop as a center for creativity through the visual arts that welcomes and supports that pursuit for all. The organization states a commitment to equity and inclusion with a focus on majority African, Latina/o/x, Asian, Arab, and Native American (ALAANA) participation and disability representation.
