About
Summer@Taft Golf Program focuses on specific golf skills such as Full Swing with Video, Full Swing with Drivers and Fairway Woods, and on-course instruction. Participants work on Fundamentals including Posture, Grip and Alignment, as well as Putting and Chipping, Fundamentals and Drills, Effective Practice to Score, Reading the Greens, and Specialty Shots (Lie & Slope). The program is designed for the competitive golfer pursuing a high school or collegiate level program and includes a 5:1 student-to-teacher ratio, with a maximum of 10 eligible students per session and two hours of on-course instruction per class.
• Schedule: Monday, Tuesday, Thursday and Friday from 2:30–4:30 pm; two-week session July 6–17, 2026
• Price: Session Two Weeks: July 6–17, 2026 - $750
All instructors in the Summer@Taft Golf Program are PGA certified and are supplied by Peter Seaman's Golf Shop. Eligibility requires enrollment in Summer@Taft's Young Scholars or Liberal Studies programs, a letter of recommendation from a golf professional, instructor, or coach, and either a USGA Certified Handicap Index of 16.5 for boys or 23.2 for girls, or submission of a video demonstrating an appropriate level of skill. Course access is available on Sundays after 4:00 pm.
The Taft School was founded in 1890 as a coeducational boarding school for students in grades nine through post graduate. Mr. Taft’s founding mission was to educate the whole student by developing academic, artistic, and athletic talents in each student while encouraging them to serve others. The school’s 226-acre campus includes an 18-hole golf course, a library with 55,000 print volumes, a 45,000 square foot science and mathematics building, two theaters, and two ice hockey rinks. Taft offers a diploma program that combines rigorous course work with service at home and abroad, reflecting its commitment to preparing students to become global citizens. The Taft School admits students of any race, color, national and ethnic origin and does not discriminate on these bases in administration of its educational policies, admission policies, scholarship and loan programs, and athletic and other school-administered programs.
