Washington Performing Arts Children of the Gospel Choir includes a year of choral training, intensive workshops, and performances. Youth between the ages of 9 and 19 may audition to join, and auditions are held throughout the year. Choir members are chosen through a competitive audition process.

About the provider
The choir was formed in 1993 and is one of Washington Performing Arts’s resident ensembles. Its artistic director is Michele Fowlin. The program is a destination choir for local students who want to develop excellence in artistry and technique as a performance ensemble, and it promotes an environment of self-confidence, teamwork, and respect. Choir members from D.C., Maryland, and Virginia take part in community events, and the choir has been featured at the White House, the Inaugural Prayer Services for President Barack Obama, the National Memorial Service for Nelson Mandela, the Washington Performing Arts Gala, the historic Howard Theatre, the U.S. Department of State, and on NBC’s Today.
Auditions are held throughout the year.
