Founded as Belleair Youth Soccer, Inc. in 1979, Florida Celtic Soccer Club has been serving residents of Largo, Belleair, and Pinellas County for over four decades. The club operates as a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization in the state of Florida and is one of the largest recreational programs in the Tampa Bay area. It is a youth competitive academy and recreational soccer club with four campuses throughout Pinellas County and has been providing soccer programs to youth in the local community since 1979. The club’s stated purpose is to organize, maintain, and operate recreational, competitive, and educational youth soccer programs for individuals 18 years of age and under, and it states that it strives to provide a safe and healthy soccer environment for players to learn and develop skills for reaching their full potential as players and young adolescents.

Florida Celtic Soccer Club describes itself as a development club focusing on holistic development of players, with a training environment that focuses on the technical, tactical, physical, and psychological aspects of the game. The club notes a focus on kids having fun and lists core values summarized as C.E.L.T.I.C: Commitment, Environment, Learning, Teamwork, Integrity, and Creativity. Players are accepted to play at Florida Celtic Soccer Club without prejudice to race, religion, nationality, or financial status, and the club states that it believes in being rooted in the community.

The club is led by a Board of Directors that is scheduled to meet monthly. Board terms are generally a one-year commitment of service, and most Board positions require approximately 3–5 hours of volunteer work per week. The leadership team includes Sarah Filipek as Board President, Christine Gomes as Treasurer, Martin Wilde as Vice President, Sara McCullough as Secretary, and Keith Barbaccia as Palm Harbor Liaison.
