About
Colo Colo Soccer Academy offers developmental soccer programs, competitive soccer programs, private training sessions, and advanced technical training with personalized coaching. The program also runs a Spring Break Camp, Holiday Camps, and Youth Tryouts, and includes a training program for dedicated young soccer players who want to master the game of soccer. Training is available for both boys and girls at every level, including players who do not yet have the technical abilities to make a travel program, with sessions that can be intense and focused on technical skills, game intelligence, speed, and agility.
• Ages: 4–18 years old
The academy’s primary focus is to develop the individual skills of its athletes so those skills can be used in a team environment, with an emphasis on work ethic, technical ability, tactical awareness, teamwork, and sportsmanship. Its mission is to make soccer the preeminent sport in South Florida by sharing a passion for the game through diverse programs and enriching experiences. Colo Colo Soccer Academy is led by Juan “Lolo” Abarca, and the coaching team has an extensive background working with and alongside top players in the USA, Mexico, Brazil, Colombia, Argentina, Peru, and Chile. As an affiliated state organization of US Youth Soccer, the program offers levels for all players, including local and national play, the Olympic Development Program, and US Soccer Federation coaching education licenses, and it also runs a UPSL Program at a semi-professional level and an international scouting program for participation in soccer abroad.
Parents describe coaches who are organized, disciplined, and actively involved in training, including working with 8-year-olds who have never played before and younger children who participate year-round. Families report that trainings and tournaments are well organized and that children show improvement in ability and stamina while working hard and enjoying the experience. One parent highlights appreciation that the academy operates in Lighthouse Point, and another, a Chilean parent, calls it a real and good soccer academy for children.
