About
Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida Camps (Camp Nocatee, Camp Welaka, Camp Telogia) offer chances for girls to hike, gather around a campfire, explore S.T.E.M., and take part in outdoor ceremonies. At these camps, girls also use facilities such as activity and dining centers, cabins, platform tents, and spaces for nature and crafts as part of their camp experiences.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
Camp Nocatee includes Founder’s Hall with a commercial kitchen that only a certified Food Manager may use, an Infirmary, Director’s Cabin, Cook’s Cabin, a Nature and Crafts Center, a Trading Post, and six campsite units with cabins, including an ADA-accessible site and elevated cabins in the Tree Tops unit. Camp Welaka includes a lodge with a commercial kitchen that only a certified food manager may use, an Infirmary, a Director’s Cabin, multiple platform tent sites, cabin sites, a Cook’s Cabin, Unit Houses at each site, and an ADA-accessible Bunk House that may be reserved. Camp Telogia is planned for daytime and evening activities and is identified as the place for progressive program outdoor experiences to begin.
Camp Welaka, Camp Nocatee, and Camp Telogia have served tens of thousands of Girl Scouts for more than 75 years, and Camp Telogia had been in operation since 1961 until 2017. Girl Scouts of Southeast Florida took ownership of the Camp Telogia land through a gift from Broward County, and volunteers have worked alongside the council to bring the Camp Telogia property back to life. The council’s leadership includes Elle Harrigan, Chief Advancement Officer.
The mission of Girl Scouts states that Girl Scouts create the world they want to live in and strive to make it better every single day, explore their strengths, take on new challenges, and can always be themselves, regardless of background or ability, supported by adult volunteers and mentors in the community and millions of alums around the globe. CAMPaign Immokalee is described as a promise to generations of future Girl Scouts and will create spaces where girls build leadership skills, strengthen resilience, explore S.T.E.M. and the outdoors, and experience belonging. Girl Scout Camp is described as a second home where girls feel safe to explore, to lead, to try something new, and to discover who they are becoming, and the Camp Welaka: Then and Now Council's Own Badge gives girls ways to learn the camp’s history, explore its features, take part in traditions, and experience outdoor ceremonies.
