About
Kind Academy is a network of innovative learning programs that support unique, gifted, and neurodiverse learners. Each program uses personalized learning to accelerate when possible and fill gaps when needed, focusing on each learner's strengths. The program follows a modern Montessori philosophy where students learn by doing, with a balance of core subjects alongside financial literacy, STEM, and social-emotional learning skills, and each program is individualized to meet each student where they are.
Founded in 2016 by Iman Alleyne, Kind Academy has grown into a vibrant network of microschools across the nation. The program emphasizes progressive, student-centered learning and integrates joy-based and passion-based learning into the curriculum. It focuses on holistic development across emotional, social, physical, and intellectual areas, and uses Conscious Discipline and positive reinforcement. Kind Academy describes itself as a community of educators and families who work together, with an emphasis on community and collaboration among students, educators, families, and the broader community. The program states that it is inclusive of families of all races, religions, genders, and abilities, celebrates diversity, and promotes inclusivity, supported by a Statement of Inclusion that emphasizes respect, dignity, honoring all voices, and valuing all contributions, as well as a Non-Discrimination Statement and a statement that it does not discriminate on the basis of race, gender, disability, or national or ethnic origin.
One parent from Miami, Florida, shared that their twin daughters were engaged, excited to learn, and often sang about Kind Academy, calling it a great program. A parent from Hong Kong described Kind Online as educational, interesting, and fun, and highlighted that the teacher prepared materials in advance, assigned homework in several ways, and was kind, patient, and encouraging, calling it a valuable and enriching experience and highly recommending it. A parent from Pompano said that Kind Academy made a transition from another state seamless and fun for their children, and noted small class sizes combined with weekly, if not daily, experiences outdoors, describing it as a different sort of educational experience for homeschooling families.
