Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus and Marion Counties offers daily activities that include homework help, tutoring, reading books, participating in literacy events, science experiments, and writing projects such as poetry, stories, screen plays, and letters to military troops deployed. Members also take part in mentoring, explore math concepts in real life scenarios, and spend time in sports, fitness, playing, and exercising, with each member spending at least one hour each day playing and exercising.

Boys & Girls Clubs of Citrus and Marion Counties states that its mission is to provide a positive, constructive bridge between the end of the school day and the parents’ arrival home from work, and to redefine the opportunity equation for members as “School + Out of School = GREAT FUTURES.” The organization offers award-winning youth development programs that focus on education and career development (including technology), character and leadership development, the arts, health and life skills, and sports, fitness and recreation. The Clubs are managed by a full-time chief professional officer and governed by a volunteer board of directors made up of local residents. The staff includes well-trained professional staff, part-time workers, and dedicated volunteers, and is described as representative of the youth population served, with qualified staff who mentor and take stock in members’ lives.
