About
Volusia County 4-H Youth Development is part of the larger 4-H youth development program in the United States. The program uses hands-on projects in many different areas, and all events and activities are designed to give youth hands-on learning that supports STEM, agriculture, healthy living, and civic engagement.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
The main goal of 4-H in Volusia County is to teach life skills through hands-on learning. 4-H is open to all youth ages 5 to 18 from all backgrounds, and a child's age is counted as of September 1 of the current 4-H year. In Florida, 4-H is part of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service, which is connected to the University of Florida, and 4-H programs are available in every county in Florida. 4-H is the largest youth development program in the United States, with more than 230,000 young people in Florida and over 6.5 million youth nationwide taking part in 4-H programs. Volusia County 4-H depends on caring volunteers to help support its mission.
