About
Ripple Effect Martial Arts offers karate lessons and martial arts training through programs called Karate for Kids and Karate for Adults. The program includes self-defense training and teaches Verbal Judo as a form of verbal self-defense to redirect conflict. It focuses on life-skill and leadership development, along with a Bullying Prevention Program, and offers two free weeks of karate lessons, a free private first introductory class, and a free second White Belt class with other students that includes an opportunity to earn a white belt.
• Ages: 3–18 years old
Students may start classes as early as 3 years old, and the program focuses on developing balance, coordination, focus, and self-control while emphasizing self-defense, character skills, physical fitness, and making friends. Ripple Effect Martial Arts states that it is “a place where small disciplines ripple into great life changes…”. Master Rachael Macy serves as Master Instructor and Head Instructor; she is a 4th degree black belt in Tang Soo Do and earned her 4th degree Masters belt in March 2018 within the World Tang Soo Do Association. In 2001, her family moved to Middleburg, Florida, and her mother, Master Jan Lappin, opened Middleburg Martial Arts.
Parents have shared that their children have shown changes they connect with participation at Ripple Effect Martial Arts, including comments about school behavior, community, and family experiences. For example, one parent, Becky Olson, reports that her son is doing much better in school and that his teacher has noticed a significant difference in his behavior since he started karate. Other parents, including Nate Doyle, Anand Sharma, Tony and Jessica Martinac, Scott Stetz, Christopher YellowBoy, and Chelsea Phillips, describe their children or families as thriving, experiencing transformation, or building confidence, self-control, self-discipline, and respect through their time in the program.
