About
The Learning Lab offers programs that include Fast ForWord cognitive training software, a Small Group and Homework Lab, an Academic Intervention Lab, a Homework Lab, the Learning Lab Full Time Academic Program, the SMART Summer Literacy program, the FLEX program, 1:1 Academic Remediation, other cognitive training softwares, and Homework Management Programs. Programs can be one-on-one or in a small group setting and are individualized to meet each child’s specific learning needs. The Learning Lab emphasizes that learning is a whole-child experience that involves the heart, body, and mind.
• Schedule: The SMART Summer Literacy program is a 6-week intensive program.
The Learning Lab is a learning center that specializes in the social, emotional, and academic health of smart kids who struggle in school and is described as a nurturing yet structured environment where students feel ready to learn and as a space where the body can calm and the mind can focus. Its tutoring programs are tailored to fit the needs of children experiencing learning differences such as ADHD, Dyslexia, Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), Dysgraphia, and Dyscalculia. Fast ForWord is described as a digital intervention learning and reading program designed to directly target the root causes of language and reading difficulty and produce fast learning gains, and it is based on evidence and the principles of neuroplasticity and was created by neuroscientists to permanently improve brain processing while building cognitive and foundational skills. Homework Lab explicitly teaches executive functioning skills such as task and time management, planning, self-monitoring, and organization. Every child that visits The Learning Lab undergoes an in-depth screening process in the Academic Intervention Lab, and it all starts with a Learning Profile used to pair the child with the learning interventions. The Learning Lab provides personalized learning in 1:1 private tutoring, and the Learning Lab Full Time Academic Program offers daily, comprehensive academic remediation for children a year or more behind academically. The SMART Summer Literacy program is designed for children who are a year or more behind in their reading and writing skills, and summer programs are designed to close significant learning gaps and prevent the summer slide. The FLEX program is a flexible scheduling summer program designed because most children lose 20–30% of what they learned during the summer months, sometimes called the Summer Slide. The Learning Lab guides parents on state compliance as it pertains to homeschooling guidelines in Florida.
The Learning Lab’s mission is to rebuild the heart and mind of children so they can feel confident and successful in school and in life. Its vision is for every smart but struggling learner to be able to show their brilliance and be valued. The Learning Lab describes its positioning as the catalyst that empowers smart but struggling learners to close achievement gaps to reintegrate into traditional classroom settings successfully, and its value proposition is that it paves the way for smart but struggling learners, their families, and school communities to provide an effective educational experience collaboratively. Core values include Marathon Mentality, Open Heart, Growth Mindset, Action Oriented, and Attitude of Gratitude.
The founder, Aly Young, has a rich education, psychology, and sociology background and has taught in public, private, and charter schools. The Learning Lab is an approved provider for the Family Empowerment Scholarship, and this approval is also listed as one of its credentials.
