The organization’s history dates back to 1939, with James J. Musso, Sr. recognized as the initial architect for the organization’s founding bridge in 1939. Its mission is to enable all young people, especially those who need the program most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible people. The Club’s impact extends to the families and communities of the children they serve by increasing graduation rates, lowering teen pregnancy and crime rates, and increasing volunteerism. The organization states that it is removing the barriers to afterschool and summer care for all families and that its programs keep kids safe and out of trouble through pathways to success. It also states that its after-school programs and nutritional dinners enable parents to work, knowing their children are in a safe and nurturing environment, and that it provides parents with peace of mind knowing that their children are safe and supervised.
