The foundation describes itself as a grassroots, hands-on organization that celebrates the strength and diversity of the community and has the goal of breaking the cycle of poverty. The Heights Foundation is a 501(c)(3) organization whose purpose is solely charitable and educational. Kathryn Kelly is the Executive Director, and she was inspired to start the foundation in 1999. The Heights Center is also described as a resource for family strengthening, lifelong learning, and community celebration.
