Free Summer Camp is a no-cost summer program that runs on weekdays during the summer session. The program is offered by Gang Alternative, Inc., which operates as a faith-based organization with programs built around five Pillars of Service: Positive Youth Development, Family Strengthening, Workforce Development, Community Upliftment and Partnerships, and Health and Wellness.

• Schedule: Monday through Friday, June 8 to July 31

Gang Alternative, Inc. was incorporated as a 501(c)(3) in 2005 and is a licensed Florida Department of Children and Families level 1 and 2 provider. It is accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities for case management and prevention services and is a member of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Chamber of Commerce and the Greater Miami Chamber of Commerce. Staff members are fluent in English, French, Haitian Creole, and Spanish and have experience in social services. GA has expanded its work in Miami-Dade County, including Little Havana and Homestead, and offers programs in Broward and Palm Beach County, as well as coalition mentoring to a drug-free coalition in Puerto Rico. One participant shared, “…My mom never had the chance to finish school, so she always encouraged me to achieve what she couldn’t. She wanted me to have more opportunities, and I’m proud to make that a reality…” (Shamariona Wheeler, ReWIND program participant).
