Scouting America North Florida Council Camps and Programs includes activities such as Scouts BSA Summer Camp, Cub Adventure Camp, and National Youth Leadership Training. The mission of the Boy Scouts of America is to prepare young people to make ethical and moral choices in their lifetimes by instilling in them the values of the Scouts Oath and Law. The North Florida Council encompasses 17 counties in northeast Florida and, through almost 2,400 volunteers, serves over 7,356 youth in over 244 units. The North Florida Council owns, maintains, and operates two camps: Camp Shands in Hawthorne, FL and St. Johns River Base at Echockotee, home of Aquatics Camp in Orange Park, FL. The Scout Service Center functions as the catalyst for policy, planning, information, and the stimulation and inspiration that mobilizes the volunteer organization.
