The Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast Camps & Educational Programs take place in a family-friendly museum setting that offers children and families hands-on activities, educational programs, and cultural experiences. The programs use bright, creative, and hands-on exhibits that reflect Florida’s unique character and are described as part of a state-of-the-art, environmentally conscious experience.
• Ages: 0–12 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday–Friday from 9 am, with closing times between 4 pm and 6 pm depending on the day, plus weekend hours
The Children’s Museum of the Treasure Coast is dedicated to providing a safe, state-of-the-art environment where curiosity and self-confidence are fostered. The museum’s mission is to offer children and families a safe, engaging space to explore and learn through enriching, hands-on exhibits and programs that spark discovery and creative thinking, including environmentally conscious experiences for children, adolescents, and adults. The museum opened in August 2008 and has welcomed over 400,000 visitors, with over 50,000 students participating in field trip and outreach programs.
The leadership team includes Executive Director and CEO Tammy Calabria, Operations Director John Sloan, Education Director and Camp contact Kayla Halle, Education Manager and Assistant Educator Denise Slovak, Events and Community Relations staff member Christina McIntosh, Birthday Party Coordinator Sharon Swenson, Gift Shop Manager Colleen Holmes, Administrative Assistant Gina Palagonia, and additional staff handling visitor services, memberships, marketing, and volunteers. The Executive Board is led by President Richard Baron, Vice President Andrea McAvoy, Secretary Jean Laws Scott, Treasurer Jason Read, and CEO Tammy Calabria, with a Board of Directors and Honorary Board that includes community volunteers, business owners, and professionals.
The museum’s community involvement includes field trip and outreach programs, dynamic mobile outreach, and events such as the Festival of Giving, Earthfest, Trick Or Treat Stroll, Haunted Maze, Children’s Museum Gala, Children’s Ball, Summerpalooza, Autumn Adventure, and Summer outreaches with the Passport Program. A testimonial quoted by the museum from Mr. Rogers states that play is “the real work of childhood” and describes how children’s museums can offer play experiences that other settings may not provide.
