Loxahatchee River Center Programs & Camps include activities such as butterfly arts and crafts and native plant seed harvesting. The program also offers a Native Plant Sale and tours of the River Center migratory bird and butterfly garden. The Atala Butterfly Festival is the River Center’s 7th Atala Butterfly Festival, and once thought to be extinct, the Atala butterfly is now local and thriving in nearby areas.

• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Seasonal hours with summer hours from June 1–August 31 and fall and spring hours from September 1–May 31
• Price: This free event is from 10:00 am – 1:00 pm. Registration is required to attend.

The River Center features live aquatic tanks, interactive exhibits, and a touch tank that represent the Loxahatchee River system from a freshwater cypress swamp to a seagrass-dominated estuary to marine ecosystems. The mission of the River Center is to foster a sense of environmental stewardship for the Loxahatchee River’s diverse watershed with quality education programs, exhibits, and meaningful events. The Loxahatchee River Center is a program of the Loxahatchee River District. The center lists copyright years from 2016–2022.
