The mission of Boys & Girls Clubs of Polk County is to enable all young people, especially those who need the program most, to reach their full potential as productive, caring, responsible people. The organization traces its history to 1939, when it began serving children from Polk County. The Club’s impact extends to the families and communities of the children it serves through after-school programs and nutritional dinners that enable parents to work, and through efforts that increase graduation rates, lower teen pregnancy and crime rates, and increase volunteerism. The Clubs provide a proactive alternative to school failure and the cycle of poverty for many of the families whose children participate, and offer academic, nutritional, and civic programs that serve children at every stage of development.
