About

Pasco County Summer Day Camp and EPIC Camp offers weekly field trips as part of its summer programming. All Summer Day Camp participants must bring their own lunch and snack each day, and breakfast and lunch will only be provided by the school board at select locations that are still to be determined.

• Ages: 5–17 years old
• Schedule: 7-week camp running June 16 – August 1, 2025, Monday–Friday, with options for the first 4 weeks or the final 3 weeks
• Price: $525–$1,050 for the summer ($75–$150 per week), plus $910 for EPIC Camp ($130 per week); before and after care costs an additional $20

The camp runs June 16 through August 1, 2025, from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday through Friday, with no camp on July 4. Before and after care is available from 7:30 a.m. to 8:30 a.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday. Families may choose the full 7-week camp, the first 4 weeks (June 16 – July 11), or the final 3 weeks (July 14 – August 1).

Traditional Summer Day Camp is for kids ages 5–12, and Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park Nature Camp is for ages 7–12. EPIC: Exceptional Play In Camp is an inclusive summer camp for children of varying abilities and has a 1:4 camper-to-counselor ratio. EPIC provides a supportive environment tailored to individual needs, including those with physical and cognitive disabilities, and an Inclusive Support Leader will be on-site at each EPIC location.

To participate in Traditional Summer Day Camp, a child must be able to use the restroom independently, have completed kindergarten, be able to follow directions and perform routine daily tasks without one-on-one guidance, and be comfortable in a 17:1 camper-to-counselor ratio. If a child would benefit from a lower camper-to-counselor ratio, families are asked to consider the EPIC program. The Summer Day Camp Counselor in Training (CIT) program is available for ages 13 to 17.

Fees for the full summer are $525 ($75 per week) at several sites, $560 ($80 per week) at one site, $595 ($85 per week) at one site, $630 ($90 per week) at one site, and $665 ($95 per week) at one site. Jay B. Starkey Wilderness Park Nature Camp costs $1,050 for the summer ($150 per week), and EPIC Camp at multiple sites costs $910 for the summer ($130 per week). Before and after care costs an additional $20 and is not eligible for scholarships.

The program uses a lottery registration system to give residents an equal opportunity to enroll in the 7-week camp. Families may choose a Linked Enrollment option, where all family members share a single lottery number and, if selected, are offered enrollment at the same location, or an Individual Enrollment option, where each child receives a separate lottery number. The Summer Day Camp Resident Youth Scholarship Program offers 35% off the total price of camp for up to two children per family, with a limit of two scholarship children per family per calendar year, and applicants receiving scholarships from other agencies are ineligible; scholarship funding does not guarantee a camp spot.

Summer Camp counselors are selected and screened with interviews, background checks, and FDLE Criminal History reports. The program seeks individuals with a high school diploma or GED and experience working with children, and training is provided in safety, discipline, recreation, sports, and behavior management. EPIC staff are described as trained staff.
