Camp Idlewild of Florida’s mission is to provide innovative camping programs adapted for children with special needs ages 6–17 and young adults ages 18–30, which promote personal growth, challenge their abilities, and help campers develop new skills in a fun and energizing environment. The program model was developed for children with Autism Spectrum Disorders (including Asperger's Syndrome), Sensory Processing Disorders, Down Syndrome, and Developmental Delays, and also offers Young Adult Camp (YAC) programs for ages 18–30 on select dates. Camp Idlewild of Florida provides respite services for parents and caregivers while campers attend and offers an option for donors to sponsor a camper for weekend and summer camps. The organization is hosting its 8th Annual “Pull for Kids” Clay Shoot and a Seventh Annual Charity Golf Tournament & Silent Auction benefiting Camp Idlewild. The camp has a Swimming Pool Fund and Splash Pad project underway, along with plans for a new recreation hall to offer more engaging activities.
