LaFleur's Largo Gymnastics Club offers gymnastics through programs such as GYM KIDS - GIRLS, TINY TOTS, ROUGH & TUMBLE, Tot with Parent classes, Tot classes, Beginners classes, Recreational classes, Tots, Pre-Team, and team training including level 2 and 3 floor, choreography for Optional level floor routines, and vault, bars, beam, and floor coaching for levels 8–10. The program also offers camps and after care for Full Day and PM campers.
• Ages: 1–17 years old
• Schedule: Lunch is scheduled from 12:00–12:30 daily for campers, and after care for Full Day and PM campers runs from 3:30–5:30.
• Price: After care is available for Full Day and PM campers from 3:30–5:30 at a rate of $5 per day or $20 per week (if prepaid on Monday).
LaFleur's Largo Gymnastics Club is described as a gymnastics only training facility with a state of the art 20,000 square foot gym and expert equipment. Programs for children aged 18 months and up include the GYM KIDS - GIRLS program, which is described as focusing on developing strength, flexibility, speed, balance, coordination, agility and self-confidence, the TINY TOTS program with lesson plans that include set-ups and stations to challenge and motivate preschoolers, and the ROUGH & TUMBLE program, which is described as focusing on developing strength, flexibility, speed, balance, agility, hand-eye coordination, teamwork, sportsmanship and confidence. A customer portal is available for class information, schedules, and pricing. All campers are instructed to bring a snack and drink, and all Full Day and 3/4 campers are instructed to bring a bag lunch.
LaFleur's Largo Gymnastics Club has been open since 1980. Mike joined his family at LaFleur’s Largo in 1984, and in 2004 Mike and Melody designed and built the gym they use today. The stated mission is to run a gymnastics only training facility in the Tampa/St. Pete area, to strive to offer the safest environment possible for both beginning and accomplished gymnasts, and to welcome children interested in gymnastics for fun physical activity or competitive success.
The leadership team includes Co-Owner of LaFleur's Largo Mike LaFleur; Co-Owner and Co-Head Coach Melody LaFleur; Co-Owner and Co-Head Coach Nic Tomasette; Co-Owner and Office Manager Kaley LaFleur; Compulsory Director and Level 3–8 Coach Kim Marks; Rec Manager and Team Coach Chrissy Roberts; Class Director, Rec/Pre-Team Coach, and Level 2 and 3 Floor Coach Cassidy Marks; Camp Director Maddie Tucker; class instructors Bailey Schwingdorf, Olivia Rudd, Kylee Roberts, Ellie Rodriguez, and Meghan Tucker; staff member Jazmine Cramer; Rec and Xcel coach Morgan Tucker; office staff member Jaime Tucker; Recreational Instructor and office staff member Meghan Daucher; and Team Coach Lexi Atherholt. Mike LaFleur completed Bachelor and Master of Science degrees in Physical Education with a coaching concentration and attended Indiana University on a full gymnastics scholarship. Melody received a full scholarship to the University of Alabama in 1981 and has helped produce over 800 State Champions, 92 Regional Champions, 105 National Qualifiers, and over 25 college scholarship recipients. Kaley continued her gymnastics career at West Chester University in Pennsylvania on a gymnastics scholarship and was a four-time National qualifier and a two-time 2nd Team All-American on balance beam. Nic attended Eastern University in Pennsylvania and received a Bachelor degree in Elementary Education. Kim received a full scholarship to Central Michigan University and graduated with a B.S. in Elementary Education.
Mike was voted Florida and Region 8 “Coach of the Year” in 2007 and was inducted into the USAG Region 8 Hall of Fame in 2017. In 2018, Melody was inducted into the USAG Region 8 Hall of Fame. OFFICE HOURS are listed as Monday 9:00–12:00 and 2:30–7:00, Tuesday 12:30–7:00, Wednesday 9:00–12:00 and 2:30–7:00, Thursday 2:30–7:00, Friday 12:30–7:00, Saturday 9:00–12:30, and Sunday closed.
