UF/IFAS Extension Baker County 4-H Youth Development includes activities such as a Holiday Bake-Off, showing an animal at the fair, and summer day camps that feature topics like cooking, insects, and farm to table. UF/IFAS Extension Baker County 4-H Youth Development includes several clubs, such as the Livestock Club for ages 5–18, Cloverbuddies for ages 5–11, Baker’s Acres Homeschool Club for ages 5–7, and the STEAM Explorers Club for ages 5–18. The Livestock Club meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 6pm in the Auditorium (unless otherwise noted), Cloverbuddies meets on the 1st Monday of the month at 4pm in the Auditorium, Baker’s Acres Homeschool Club meets on the 4th Tuesday of the month at 10:30am with a location that varies, and the STEAM Explorers Club meets on the 3rd Thursday of the month at 4:30pm in the Auditorium. 4-H members “learn by doing” through project work such as contests, field trips, speeches, or working with an animal, and there are several clubs to choose from with activities centered around each club’s theme.
Registration for camps and activities is done through the 4-H Online system, which is mandatory for all youth and is also where allergies or special needs are reported. Payment for camps and activities can be made by cash or check at the Baker County Extension Office, and payment is required to secure registration, with payment plans available upon request. All Florida 4-H Volunteers are FBI Level 2 background checked.
The program is led locally by Shaina Spann, 4-H Youth Development Agent. 4-H is part of the Florida Cooperative Extension Service, which is a partnership between state, federal, and county governments to provide scientific knowledge and expertise to the public. The University of Florida (UF), together with Florida A&M University (FAMU), administers the Florida Cooperative Extension Service.
