Young Musicians Unite offers rock ensembles, jazz ensembles, songwriting, stage production, and internships. The program keeps classes small to provide a more intimate mentor-to-student experience. YMU students in grades 5–12 develop musical skills, build friendships, and gain real world experience through performances and collaboration.

Young Musicians Unite believes that every child deserves access to high-quality music education regardless of socioeconomic background and collaborates with schools and community partners to provide free music education. As the largest provider of free in-school music education in Florida, the organization serves more than 12,000 students across Miami-Dade County every week. Its after-school performing ensemble programs focus on students who want to study music on a deeper level, and the performing ensembles participate in over 200 performances during the annual concert season. Since 2013, Young Musicians Unite has served 37,632 total students. Research cited by the program states that music enhances learning by nourishing cognitive, sensory, attention, emotional, and motor capacities, with reported impacts including stronger performance in English Language Arts and mathematics, reductions in chronic absenteeism and tardiness, and increased motivation to do well academically. The leadership team includes Alan Valladares as Director.
