RLMA Martial Arts has been teaching Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, Karate, and Taekwondo since 2004 and has focused on changing lives one person at a time through martial arts, education, and coaching. The program states that it strives to provide a safe, comfortable, and welcoming atmosphere for students and family members and strongly believes that martial arts can be for everyone, regardless of age, gender, or experience level. It also states that it stands behind a realistic and practical approach to self-defense and notes that members have seen improvements in as little as 7 days.
Professor Regis Lima leads instruction at RLMA Martial Arts and is described as a highly respected figure in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and Taekwondo. He was born in São Paulo, Brazil, earned his Taekwondo black belt under Brazilian athlete Fabio Goulart, and became regional, state, and national champion in 1998. In 2001 he was hired to teach Taekwondo at recreational centers in Pasco County, FL, and his passion and commitment to the sport quickly gained the support of local families. He earned the title of National Champion and a silver medal at the U.S. Open in 2007, began training in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu in 2011 under Professor Marcio “Pe de Pano” Cruz, was granted permission to teach beginners after earning his purple belt, and was promoted to Black Belt in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu by Professor Cruz in 2024. He earned a bronze medal at Pan IBJJF in 2021 and serves as the AAU Florida Taekwondo District Director.
Parent and student comments about RLMA Martial Arts include statements that children learned Jiu-Jitsu as well as respect and honor, that Regis is described as an excellent instructor who kept an adult student motivated and progressing in Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu, and that RLMA is described as being like family with a combination of passion, discipline, and helping kids. Other comments state that teachers love their students and take their time with them each day, that families feel they have grown physically and mentally, and that RLMA emphasizes that martial arts is more than just physical training. One parent notes that a daughter travels to different places to compete on a team and that her skills have improved every year, and another describes enrolling their kids at RLMA as the best decision they have made and says that Regis and the other instructors are like family.
