The Afterschool Academic Program focuses on helping students with their homework, reading skills, and school projects. The program offers educational support, mentorship, enrichment activities, and a daily reading curriculum, including one-on-one assistance for Specialized Varying Exceptionality Students (SVES) with homework and school assignments. The program also uses three 86" Promethean Smart Boards and provides Chromebooks so students can log into their My SCS accounts to complete online assignments.

Currently certified teachers work part-time in the Afterschool Academic Program to assist students. The program is led by Alicia Williams, Director of Youth Programs. In the 2023–2024 school year, the program had a daily attendance average of 88 students, and 85% finished the school year above average, including students with Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), and this year the program aims to have 90% of students above average. The Afterschool Academic Program works hand in hand with the Sarasota County Board of Education and Sarasota Public Schools by educating and helping students with their homework, school projects, and daily reading curriculum. The program is made possible through the generosity of the Community Foundation of Sarasota County and individual supporters, and it also participates in the Flanzer Philanthropic Trust Matching Program with contributions via PayPal, credit cards, or check. Client Choice Food Distributions in partnership with All Faiths Food Bank are held on the 1st and 3rd Thursdays of the month from 10 am–12 pm and 4–6 pm.
