About

Live! School of Music offers instruction in guitar, bass, drums, voice, keys, piano, uke-guitar, songwriting, and music production. The program includes a Debut Program that introduces music through rhythm, melody, and hands-on group activities, and uses Rockschool Debut–Grade 1 material for voice or instruments. Students train through labs, ensembles, and guided workshops that mirror real music-making environments, with regular performance and studio experiences as part of the learning process.

• Ages: 7–18 years old
• Schedule: Class options Monday through Thursday afternoons and evenings, plus Saturday daytime, in two-week sessions during June and July

Live! School of Music was established in 2007, and since 2007 it has grown alongside its students. The program follows a performance-based approach to music education with the stage as the classroom, and its core Creative Music Industry program has three levels. The Debut Program for ages 7 and 8 serves as an entry point where students build teamwork and musical habits in a small-group setting and experience low-pressure performance moments.

The school’s mission is to inspire and empower individuals through the transformative nature of music in an inclusive environment that fosters skill development and creativity. Instructors are experienced musicians and educators with backgrounds in performance, recording, and teaching, and many are active performers in Miami’s music scene. Leadership and instructional roles include co-founders Daniel Diaz and Luli Cereseto; enrollment and administration by Carlos Ayala; and faculty such as Danny Hayoun (guitar, bass, music production), Lee Nathanson (guitar, bass), Melissa Encarnacion (vocal coach), Eduardo Adrianza (guitar, bass, piano, music production), Antoinne Barnes (voice, piano), Alejandro Gonzalez (drums), Eunice Boyé (voice, piano), Ricky Joseph (drums), Valeria Reyes (voice, piano), Eddie Espinoza (drums), Nicole Lopez (voice, piano), Yolanda Harrold (voice, piano), Anastasia Zaichenko (bass), and founder/director Juan Pablo Diaz.

Live! School of Music is a project-based, performance-driven community where students participate in a hands-on curriculum that includes songwriting, recording, stagecraft, and collaboration. The program offers extended learning pathways through its partnership with Berklee City Music and is also a partner of Rockschool International and StepUp scholarships. Students have performed at venues including PAMM, the Adrienne Arsht Center, YoungArts, Miami Book Fair, Miami Country Day, GroundUP Festival, and Magic 13 Brewery, and the school states that it offers opportunities for students to access top universities and scholarship programs.

Parent and community testimonials describe student experiences such as performing on stage with Pink Floyd, being hired for paid studio work, and receiving a scholarship to attend Berklee’s 5-week summer program. Other testimonials highlight professional studios, talented and competent instruction, and students joining bands in addition to taking private lessons. One parent notes that their child attends drum lessons and their younger child attends piano lessons at Live! School of Music, and another states that their child feels comfortable learning and being outside of their comfort zone at the school.
