About
Camp Anderson Anchored is a Christian campground that offers wholesome Christian activities for youth, churches, and special groups of all ages. The program takes place at a Christian Retreat Center that was developed from the old KOA campground along the Suwannee River and is described by visiting groups as having great cabins and very good, clean, and well-kept grounds.
• Ages: 5–18 years old
• Schedule: Open Monday–Friday, 9:00 am–5:00 pm
Camp Anderson Anchored operates with the stated mission “to love others and spread the good news of Jesus Christ!” and reports that many thousands have found Jesus at the camp. Many churches have sent young people to the camp, and many children being cared for by the State of Florida have been participants. The Executive Director, Jon Egan, served 20 years in local church ministry before coming to Camp Anderson Anchored, and the leadership team also includes Administrative Director Allison Egan, Assistant Director Richard Coe, Guest Experience Coordinator Lauren Coe, Groundskeeping | Recreation staff member Kevin Amerson, and Program Assistant Brandi Cash. In 2012, Joe Anderson Jr., founder of Anderson Columbia Inc., invested in the old KOA campground along the Suwannee River to develop Camp Anderson Anchored as a Christian campground, and he passed away in 2016.
Group leaders and guests have shared that the staff were always helpful and ready to do whatever was needed, that the meals were delicious, and that both teens and adults were very satisfied with their camp experiences. They have also described the grounds as perfect, nice, clean, and well taken care of, and have specifically praised the cabins and the support from Camp Anderson Anchored staff.
