Upward Sports is a multi-sport program that offers basketball, soccer, cheerleading, volleyball, flag football, baseball, softball, and Upward Pickleball. The program’s mission is promoting the discovery of Jesus through sports. Experiences are described as engaging the whole athlete – mind, body, spirit, and soul.
Upward Sports was founded in 1995 out of a church in Spartanburg, South Carolina, by founder Caz McCaslin. It is a 501(c)(3) non-profit ministry and complies with Evangelical Council for Financial Accountability (ECFA) membership standards. The organization partners with churches to leverage sports in their community and walks alongside churches in pursuing their mission, supporting them with strategic consulting, logistics, materials, and spiritual support. Upward Sports reports over 2,000 sports experiences across the U.S., serving hundreds of thousands of young athletes as part of a nationwide movement helping churches use sports to engage their local communities with the gospel.

A participant from Wheatfield, IN, describes Upward as a unique experience for youth in that community and connects it with a passion for the next generation and seeing youth come to love Jesus.
