Southern Pines Equestrian Center offers Homeschool Horse Club, English and Western riding lessons, birthday parties, camps, photography sessions, and barn experiences where students meet and greet animals. Program activities include foundational riding skills, horsemanship, STEM activities, barn management, horse science, first aid, teamwork, crafts, socialization, games, and horse swimming. Lessons are available in sixty minute and ninety minute formats, and there is also a vacation rental on the horse farm with the option to reserve one of the horses.

Southern Pines Equestrian (formerly Sunshine Acres) was purchased in July of 2018. The instructional team is fully trained and prepared to teach the ins and outs of equestrian care and horseback riding, and the team of professionals includes instructors and barn staff of different backgrounds who all share a love for horses. The leadership team includes owner Angela Armstrong, Scott Armstrong, Carl “Popsi” Lowery as the main caretaker of the facility, Alec who works on the farm when home from college, and Courtney who works on the business side. The stated mission is “Where we strive to cultivate a thriving environment promoting the care, love and nurturing of horses while honoring Christ.” Angela Armstrong states, “My main focus here at Southern Pines Equestrian is the horses! Their care, well-being, and safety is my utmost concern and I am honored to have them at our facility!” Safety and comfort for all barn guests is listed as the number one goal.
