Growing Room Tallahassee

Growing Room Tallahassee uses a language-based curriculum that includes weekly themes based on letters, colors, concepts, and skills. Children take part in phonics, reading, writing, hands-on math, hands-on science, and activities built around children’s literature. The program also includes family style dining along with instruction in self-help, socialization, and character building skills.

Growing Room Tallahassee follows a Health & Safety Program designed by Growing Room founder Sheree Mitchell, a registered nurse. The program lists Sheree Mitchell, R.N., as founder, along with Cynthia Barclay as Pre-K Lead Teacher and Virginia Norwood as K3C Lead Teacher. Growing Room Tallahassee is a franchise of Growing Room USA, which was named Small Business of the Year in 2004. The program notes enhanced health and safety practices, trained staff in disease prevention techniques, sanitation and disinfecting of classrooms, equipment, and toys multiple times a day, and an onsite disinfectant system. Each infant has his or her own primary caregiver, and parent involvement is described as the core of the integrated approach to child development. The program reports 532 children enrolled at Growing Room Tallahassee, three Tallahassee locations, and enrollment now open for the 2025–2026 school year.
