Ivy Hill Academy opened its doors in February 2006. The mission of Ivy Hill Academy is to create a nurturing, home-like setting while providing a progressive educational curriculum with degreed teachers. Ivy Hill Academy provides care and education for children from birth through the primary grades and is described as more than a day care, with a safe, nurturing, educational, and fun environment. The school is described as small with a home-like, family environment.

Ivy Hill Academy is the only early learning center led by a Conscious Discipline Certified Instructor, and all teachers have a college degree. Most classrooms have ratios that are about half of what is required by the State of Florida. Ivy Hill Academy is described as one of the most comprehensive preschool and private schools in Tallahassee and is noted as the only Tallahassee preschool that focuses on cognitive, social/emotional, and physical development. It is also described as one of the only preschools to include fine arts and exercise as part of the curriculum and provides extensive, developmentally advanced individualized learning programs tailored to the child. The program provides regular parent training in Conscious Discipline. Every day from 5:30–6:00 PM, every classroom and common area goes through a rigorous sanitization process. Tours are available by appointment.

Parent reviews describe Ivy Hill Academy as practicing Conscious Discipline with students, with children learning ways to take control of their actions and emotions. Parents note that their children love their teachers and classmates and mention excellent ratios and college-educated teachers. Reviews describe a small, home-like environment, a family atmosphere, and teachers and staff who address children by name. Parents also mention that Kindermusik is offered at the school with a teacher visiting classrooms on Fridays, and that children have attended since the school opened in 2006.
