Tamiami Youth Basketball offers a Community Basketball Program that includes activities such as the Tamiami Summer Camp, Spring League, Fall League, and All Stars. The program also runs special events like the Tamiami Fall Opening Ceremony 2018 at the AAA, Tamiami Heat Night, Tamiami Basketball Fall All Star 2019, Tamiami Basketball Fall 2019, and recognizes Tamiami Fall League Champions. All activities take place in a facility where league play and events are organized.
• Ages: 6–18 years old
The Tamiami Youth Basketball program states that it is designed to teach and motivate youth to set and achieve goals by stressing commitment, integrity, confidence, and overcoming obstacles. It states a belief in the responsibility to educate and empower communities to be successful, productive citizens for tomorrow. Through its Community Basketball Program, it uses the sport of basketball as a conduit to promote the importance of academics, teamwork, and good sportsmanship. The league is run by volunteers, and coaches are volunteers.
All coaches have a Level 1 background check run prior to playing games in the facility. Referees and staff must be treated with respect, with zero tolerance for disrespect in the facility. If a fan becomes unruly, the respective coach will be asked to have them leave the facility, and once removed, league members will determine if the removal will be permanent. The league describes itself as providing a fun, yet competitive safe environment where children can learn fundamental skills necessary for success on and off the basketball court.
